Plex keeps crashing and you don’t know why? Then find out here what you can do if Plex keeps crashing.
Again and again there is the message that numerous apps crash. The reasons can not be more different and so it is the responsibility of the app developer to avoid crashes for many problems. In the case of Plex problems the developer team Plex Inc. ensures that the app does not always disappear or restart on its own.
Plex always crashes
With almost every app, it is more than annoying if it always crashes. But what can you do specifically at Plex so that it will work in the future.
What to do if Plex crashes?
As mentioned several times, it is basically the responsibility of the developer to prevent crashes from Plex. But it is not always because the app was poorly programmed or the developer is to blame. Ultimately, the app only works smoothly in combination with the operating system. For example, it can be due to the iOS operating system for Apple devices or the Android operating system for Android devices, which can cause crashes in some apps.
Therefore, it is always recommended to take the following basic measures to avoid crashes:
- Install the latest iOS or Android version
- Check Plex for updates and update if necessary
- Restart smartphone or tablet completely
- Uninstall and reinstall Plex
These measures can be used to solve many Plex problems in advance.

Plex for Google TV crashes whenever I try to seek forward or back very far in an .mkv video file hosted on my Plex server, in local network (plex seek button on remote and long-press it.) Plex simply restarts. I’ve tried uninstalling and installing an older version but it still does this. I don’t remember it happening before the current update but I’ve only had the TV for a month and this is my first update to the app. My Plex server runs fine, no crashes, latest version. 1080p 5.1 File is playing in Direct mode. Happens when I play it in Transcode mode too (using passthrough sound mode in Plex Android settings.)
